Davide contro Golia. In questa scena vediamo un ragno del genere Tetragnatha immobile su una foglia di vegetazione acquatica. I ragni di questo genere sono comuni in ambienti umidi e spesso si posso trovare, come in questo caso, sulla vegetazione lungo i corsi d’acqua. Curiosamente mentre scattavo un piccolo insetto si è posato vicino all’enorme aracnide il quale è rimasto impassibile. Forse perchè poco interessato? forse perchè le dimensioni del pasto non giustificavano un’azione di caccia? La risposta è molto semplice. I ragni di questo genere catturano le loro prede tessendo una tela e aspettando nelle vicinanze che qualche mal capitato insetto ci finisca dentro. Non ho assistito alla scena, ma molto probabilmente il nostro piccolo Davide ha portato a casa la pelle.

David against Goliath. In this scene we see a spider of the genus Tetragnatha standing on a leaf of aquatic vegetation. Spiders of this genus are common in humid environments and can often be found, as in this case, on vegetation along waterways. Curiously, while I was shooting, a small insect landed near the huge arachnid which remained impassive. Maybe because it is not very interested? perhaps because the size of the meal did not justify a hunting action? The answer is very simple. Spiders of this genus catch their prey by creating a spider web and waiting nearby for some unfortunate insect to end up inside it. I did not witness the scene, but most likely our little David brought the skin home.
