Mars opposition 2020

Ciao a tutti.

Hello to all. The photo I propose here is the summary of the best photos I took between August and November in this year's lucky Martian opposition. Compared to the great opposition of 2018, this year's one can be called lucky for two reasons. The first is that there has been no sandstorm that has covered the planet entirely or partially (as happened in 2018 when Mars was covered by a giant planetary sandstorm) and the second is that here in Italy there have been good weather conditions. The photo shows all the Martian structures with which I composed a 2D map of the entire planet using the winjupos software. I found the best seeing conditions in the night between September 30th and October 1st. It is interesting to note the progressive reduction of the polar cap as the dates advance, in fact in this opposition we observed the seasonal transition of Mars from spring to summer with the consequent almost total melting of the southern hemisphere cap (south at the top for planetary astrophotography). The melting of dry ice (CO2) has favored the formation of blue clouds clearly visible in all the photos. I have photographed and observed many other terrestrial details such as the famous Mount Olympus and the Tharsis region, the Marineris Valley and strange cloud formations that are the subject of discussion even among experts. Personally I am very satisfied with the results I managed to obtain this year, I made my first decent photos of the red planet and improved numerous planetary processing methods. I hope you enjoy this photo! We will meet again with Mars with the next opposition, or in about 2 years :)
